Looking for a flavorful addition to your holiday table? This delightful orange cranberry sauce, inspired by Ina Garten's recipe, is the perfect blend of tart cranberries, fresh citrus, and just the right amount of sweetness. With a vibrant color and refreshing taste, this homemade sauce will quickly become a favorite for Thanksgiving or any festive occasion.

Orange Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries, rinsed

  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • Zest of 1 large orange

  • 3/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (from 2-3 oranges)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cranberries: Start by rinsing the cranberries under cold water. Pick out and discard any bruised or damaged berries for a beautiful, bright sauce.

  2. Cook the Sauce: In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar has fully dissolved.

  3. Add Citrus and Cranberries: Stir in the orange zest and freshly squeezed orange juice. Add the cranberries and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Lower the heat to simmer, cooking for 10-15 minutes until most of the cranberries have burst, and the sauce begins to thicken. Stir occasionally.

  4. Cool and Serve: Once your cranberry sauce has reached a slightly thickened consistency, remove it from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools. Transfer to a serving dish, or if you're preparing ahead, store it in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

This orange cranberry sauce pairs beautifully with roasted turkey, stuffing, or even a cheese board. Its bright, tangy flavor complements savory dishes and adds a touch of elegance to any holiday meal. Plus, this homemade twist is simple, quick, and sure to impress! Enjoy the warmth and joy of the season with this fresh, flavorful addition to your table.
