My friend and local author Kathryn Smith who has written many historical and biographic books about the early twentieth century and the FDR administration has also just written a book called Baptist and Bootleggers: a Prohibition Exhibition Through the South with Cocktail Recipes.
This recipe came from Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s “Children’s Hour” which was his daily cocktail hour with invited guests, immediate staff and many times his children. FDR used this time to relax, and so can you. Watch our video and have some fun with us!
Ingredients
Lemon to Wet the Rim
1 oz Gin
1/2 oz Vermouth
Dash of Olive Brine
Method
Wet the rim with a quarter of a lemon.
Add ingredients to a metal cocktail shaker and shake side-to-side until a nice frost forms on the shaker. Then shake 10 seconds more and pour into a chilled martini glass.
Enjoy!
