SO MANY GUEST ASKED HOW TO DRESS we wrote this blog to HELP, not to STRESS anyone out but to provide a guide. Our Locke & Key Associates Red Carpet Martini Gala is all about elegance, glamour, and a little over-the-top 1980s fabulousness!
Think Dynasty meets a James Bond premiere, with a wink to the extravagant style of the 1980s.
The most important thing to remember: This is BLACK TIE first, with a creative 1980s twist. We want you to have fun, be imaginative, and even be a little outrageous! Just keep it sophisticated and glamorous. This is a red-carpet gala, not a costume party.
Ladies: Channel Your Inner Alexis Carrington!
The 1980s were gloriously extravagant, and we encourage you to embrace that spirit!
Think dramatic shoulders, fabulous sequins, luxurious velvet, shimmering satin, jewel-toned gowns, oversized gold jewelry, enormous hoop earrings, pearls, rhinestones, and statement accessories. Love neon? Bring it on! A spectacular hot-pink clutch, electric-blue heels, or dramatic neon jewelry can add personality to a beautiful evening gown. Want to go all out? Fabulous! Think dramatic jewelry, bold silhouettes, sparkling accessories, and unforgettable red-carpet glamour.
An inexpensive idea: Pair a classic black evening gown with oversized vintage earrings, a sequined clutch, and glamorous hair. Instant 1980s sophistication!
Gentlemen: James Bond With a Little 1980s Swagger!
Gentlemen, this is your opportunity to look spectacular!
A traditional tuxedo is always perfect. But why not have a little fun? Consider a burgundy or emerald velvet dinner jacket, a colorful silk bow tie, dramatic cufflinks, a fabulous pocket square, or an extravagant boutonniere. Love the playful side of the 1980s? Incorporate LEGO-inspired accessories, colorful geometric designs, bold jewelry, or imaginative statement pieces.
Don't be afraid to be extravagant! We love personality, creativity, and a little theatrical flair. The key is to build your look around elegant formalwear.
A Gentle Reminder About the Dress Code
We want everyone to feel comfortable, confident, and appropriately dressed for this special occasion.
Black tie means formal evening attire.
For gentlemen, that means a tuxedo or an exceptionally well-tailored dark formal suit with a dress shirt and tie or bow tie.
For ladies, think evening gowns, elegant formal cocktail dresses, or sophisticated evening ensembles.
Please, no T-shirts, jeans, or sport coats. Even when paired with dress shoes or fashionable accessories, these items are not appropriate for our black-tie celebration. If you do not have a Tuxedo please wear a dark suit.
And while we absolutely encourage imaginative 1980s touches, please avoid casual decade-themed costumes.
Our Philosophy? Be Elegant. Be Extravagant. Be Fabulous!
We don't want everyone looking alike!
We want dramatic earrings, fabulous gowns, beautiful tuxedos, velvet jackets, sparkling sequins, bold colors, unexpected accessories, and a little playful 1980s magic. You can be traditional, glamorous, theatrical, or wonderfully creative.
Just remember: Dress for the red carpet, then turn up the 1980s glamour as much as you like!
We can't wait to see everyone looking absolutely fabulous on December 18 at 6:00 PM. Please RSVP HERE
