The White Lady cocktail was created about 100 years ago at the American Bar at the Savoy in London. According to the "Downton Abbey Cocktail Book", where I found this great libation, it was so famous a cocktail shaker of it was buried in the walls of the bar during a renovation in 1927. It's a crowd pleaser that is a balance of sweet and citrus that is fun but not sickening. One is a great way to start an evening and imbibe in the beauty of the 1920's. Here is my variation below. Ingredients
- 2 fl oz Bombay Sapphire Gin
- 3/4 fl oz Fresh Lemon Juice (The juice of half a lemon)
- 1/2 fl oz Orange Liqueur (I use Belle Orange)
- 1 1/2 Teaspoon Simple Syrup
Method
Combine all of the ingredients in a shaker. Add ice. Shake hard for 8–10 seconds and strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.
