There are moments in life when community, tradition, family, and a little friendly rivalry all come together in the best possible way. This year, Anderson University’s first football game of the season gives us one of those moments as the Trojans travel to Greenville to take on Furman University at Paladin Stadium.
As Realtor David Locke with Locke and Key Associates at Keller Williams, I could not be more excited or more honored that our team will be hosting the first-ever Anderson University Alumni Tailgate on 6:00 PM, Thursday, August 27th at Furman University.
This tailgate is more than a pregame gathering. It is a celebration of AU pride, alumni connection, fellowship, networking, and support for a university that means so much to so many of us. Whether you are a graduate, parent, supporter, friend, or fan, this is a wonderful opportunity to come together before kickoff and cheer on our beloved Anderson University.
The event will be limited to 150 reservations, making it an intimate and meaningful time to reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, and enjoy the energy of college football. The Locke and Key Associates team will be there to greet you with party favors, music, and plenty of fun as we help set the tone for a memorable evening. Guests will also enjoy food provided by Henry’s Steakhouse, adding even more hometown flavor to this exciting AU gathering.
This game also has a special personal connection for me. I like to say that my house is divided, because while my heart is with Anderson University, my wife is a Furman graduate. That makes this matchup even more fun in the Locke household. To make it even more meaningful, the tailgate will be held near Daniel Chapel, the very place where my wife and I were married. So while there may be a little good-natured rivalry on the field, this event is also a reminder of how special these places, these relationships, and these shared memories can be.
College football has a way of bringing people together. It gives us a reason to gather, laugh, cheer, reminisce, and support something bigger than ourselves. For Anderson University, this season opener at Furman is an exciting opportunity to show up strong, celebrate the AU community, and make history together.
